Amichai’s Top 50/14. S.O.S Shanti Om Shalom

Gabriel Meyer walked into the Elul Study Center-this Yeshiva in Jerusalem where I was learning in 1995 – with a big drum and some colorful Indian garb and personality bigger and more colorful still. Our friendship started that morning and evolved as we co-created the first Israeli festivals of Jewish Renewal in the late 90’s. Gabi introduced me to the Sheva Jamma – community – and band – quickly becoming a sensation in Israel and beyond, with an eclectic mix of spiritual music from all over the world, woven with Hebrew, Arabic, Hindi with beats and longing for a mix we were all ready for. Still
Riding this wave. Grateful for the inspirations that continue to emanate from all these talented liturgical prophets.

Shanti Om Shalom is just one beautiful specimen of this deepening fusion, complete with angels of peace and quiet spirit into:

Sabbath peace.
