Thank you for choosing to join me and artist Jacqueline Nicholls on this 40 day journey into a new year. I hope these reflections on the ripples of our being inspire private introspection and public conversation. Here’s today’s post:

Prepent Day 36

We clutter up our lives with closets full of stuff we no longer need: hearts packed with rages, resentments and regrets that clog our arteries and block our blood. We hoard extra baggage. Now’s the time, as good as any, to let go, to release, to make room within for who and what we want to once again become. “Cleanliness is next to Godliness” is honestly one of those idioms that triggers me to live with heaps of trash. But on this day, with this journey almost over, it softens me and sends me over to my desk drawer, my socks drawer, to my draft inbox and contact list. Today I’ll purge through just one of those containers of life – be realistic – taking on the ritual of physical clearing to echo the internal cleaning of mind and soul. I declutter and unhoard, cleaning up my act and coming closer to the source where less is more and enough is always enough.

Very excited for Lab/Shul’s fifth season of High Holy Days, back in Tribeca. We invite all ages to return to center, recharge soul, reclaim community and co-create our widening circles of care, compassion and justice.
