Thank you for choosing to join me and artist Jacqueline Nicholls on this 40 day journey into a new year. I hope these reflections on the ripples of our being inspire private introspection and public conversation. Here’s today’s post:
Timing is everything. There are cosmic winks and wrinkles of special occasions that invite us to hop on and time travel into the deepest sense of what this holy life is all about. That’s why they are called “holy days.” How can we make each precious minute matter more?
Today, time is ticking. If I knew that Yom Kippur is truly the deadline of my life, how would I live this day differently? What unfinished business would I prioritize above all else? Today is one of those winks, just one day before we begin our descent from this forty day flight after entering the innermost within.
I take time out today to take time in, more seriously. I’ll watch my watch tick tock for one full minute, sixty long seconds; when it’s over I’ll breathe deep with gratitude, circling around once more. This is my commitment: more noble and dedicated time management, more love of life. Time is ticking.

Very excited for Lab/Shul’s fifth season of High Holy Days, back in Tribeca. We invite all ages to return to center, recharge soul, reclaim community and co-create our widening circles of care, compassion and justice.
